  My experience today was very frustrating and disappointing. I had gone through a lot of trouble to get original documents ready to renew my license. I had already been warned not to go to this particular field office because of their bad experiences in this office due to the attendants' rude behavior. I took my driver's license, my passport, birth certificate, social security card and my phone bill with my name on it. Most of our utility bills have my husband's name on them, except for the water bill, which says "occupant." The only document missing was my death certificate, which I could not locate in my files. My husband had the PNM and NM Gas Company bills in an email document on his phone, but the attendant, named Antonia, did not allow it because my husband had not picked a number, even though I was still being "served". The attendant was very curt and rude in her treatment of me. Incidentally, of the twelve windows available, only four were being used to serve customers. This makes me wonder if the inefficiency of the MVD at this office is deliberate to maintain long waiting times to keep the lobby always full to guarantee employment for the attendants. Would courtesy and efficiency cost them their jobs? They seem to think so.

  I had a very good experience at this location... if you have all the documents that they require you won't have any issues do the research before you go so you can have a better experience

  Go to MVD Express instead and pay the fee. To get a New Mexico ID, I had to revisit at least 3 times in one day. I came quite prepared with paperwork for proof of address, identity, etc, and after waiting for 30 minutes to over an hour each time, I spoke with a different employee who told me contradicting info that I brought insufficient papers. One employee would tell me I brought more than needed for address but needed not enough for ID, another vice versa. I'm a calm person, but on the last visit I was fuming when an employee told I still did not have the right papers; I told him everyone told me a different story. He just told me that certain employees "don't have any idea what they're talking about." I ended up going to MVD Express, and was in and out in about 20 minutes (they also saw that I'd previously lived in NM and drew up my info fast).
